How to get your career started

COVID-19 has increased the need for health intendance administration in long-term care, home back up and assisted living services.

Normally, to become a health care assistant, you must complete six to eight months of post-secondary education at your own expense before yous can apply for a position.

Through the Wellness Career Admission Programme, the Province will pay for your mail service-secondary education.

  • Maintaining a make clean and safe environment for patients and staff

Join the Health Career Admission Program

The Health Career Access Program happens in three stages.

Stage 1: Start every bit a health care back up worker

Pedagogy

  • Grade 10, including the successful completion of English 10, or equivalency
    • English language competency requirements are established by the BC Care Aide and Community Health Worker Registry
    • Assessment criteria differ between individuals whose kickoff language is English and those whose first language is non English language
    • Some mail-secondary institutions may have college teaching requirements. Tuition-free upgrading may be bachelor

Stage 2: Complete bones training and onboarding

All newly hired wellness care support workers must complete a provincially standardized training and onboarding plan. This is provided by your employer.

You will exist paid for your time and any course fees will be reimbursed.


Stage 3: Become a health intendance assistant
